As 2024 winds down, we’re reflecting on the progress we’ve made and the incredible enthusiasm you’ve shown us over the past few months. As we close out the year, we’d like to take a moment to catch you up on what we’ve accomplished and what’s next for Zoomies!
🏢 Scouting Our Future Home
Our search for the perfect Zoomies location continues! I know, I know. We’re starting to sound like a broken record – When are we going to announce a location for crying out loud?? As you might’ve seen in a recent post, we're actively touring buildings, seeking a space that meets the following criteria:
Size: At least 40,000 square feet
Outdoor Space: For summer fun
Dedicated Parking: Need we say more?
Centrally Located: Accessible to as much of Chicago as possible
While we haven’t found the one just yet, we’ve got some strong contenders on our “nice” list and will continue to tour spaces until we find the perfect spot. Once we find it, there are still important steps like zoning approvals and lease negotiations to navigate. These can take time, and setbacks might happen, but here’s what we want you to know: it’s not a question of if Zoomies will happen—it’s how quickly.
We’re ambitiously aiming to secure a home by the end of March to keep us on track for our Grand Opening timeline of November 2025. Your encouragement and support is immensely appreciated, so please keep reaching out to share your feedback and ideas—we love hearing from you!
📰Crowdfunding Campaign: Building Together
We’ve been promoting our crowdfunding campaign for a few weeks now (we’re pretty sure you’ve seen one of our ads… maybe even a few times). For those wondering, “What is crowdfunding and why are you doing it?”—here’s a quick analogy:
Imagine your neighborhood wants to host an amazing block party. Not just any block party, but the block party of the decade—live music, professionally catered, and activities for everyone (including the dogs). Instead of relying on one person to cover the cost, everyone on the block pitches in to make it as magical as possible. 🤔Why are you asking us for money? Why not just get a loan or find an investor?
Great question! Here’s the thing—it’s not an either/or situation. We’re actively pursuing loans and investor partnerships, but crowdfunding is unique because it shows those funders that our community believes in Zoomies. It’s like pitching a dog toy to a retailer and being able to say, “Look at all these pups who already love it!”
🔄The Building or the Funding: Which Comes First?
We’ve also heard your concerns—many of you want to wait until we announce a location before contributing. We get it! Location REALLY matters!
This is where it gets tricky: we need funding to secure a building, but we also need a building to help people feel confident contributing. It’s got us thinking—would narrowing down our target neighborhoods be enough to give people confidence? Or does it make more sense to hold off on launching presale memberships until we can share a specific address?
These are the questions we’re exploring right now, and your feedback could make all the difference. Our ask of you —send us an email or shoot us a DM and give us your thoughts on the above! Do we need a location before we launch pre-sale memberships? Or do we launch pre-sale memberships with a few target neighborhoods to demonstrate community interest and build momentum?
